Welcome our new coach - Rob Battisson

 

Rob Battisson brings over 10 years of coaching and 17 years of competitive playing experience to the Zips program. In his second season as an assistant coach at Akron, Battisson was hired in March 2007.

Battisson served as head men’s coach at Division II Chowan University (N.C.) during the 2005-06 season. Prior to his time at Chowan, he was assistant women’s coach at D-II Northwest Missouri State from 2003-05. Additionally, Battisson served as a girl’s staff coach for the Kansas City Olympic Development Program in 2004 and was camp director of Joe Machnik’s No. 1 Soccer Camps from 2000-04.

Amanda Cinalli for being among the 28 players taken in Monday's Women's Professional Soccer General Draft!  Amanda was drafted by the St. Louis team.  Amanda played at Notre Dame and was an integral part of their 2004 National Championship!

Michelle Zrebiec was named Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week. A senior goalkeeper at John Carroll University,Michelle earned her third straight shutout victory in JCU’s conference-opening 1-0 win over Capital University Friday posting her seventh shutout of the 2008 campaign.  This season, Michelle  has posted a spectacular 0.56 goals allowed average, only allowing six goals to be scored in almost 1000 minutes played in goal. She now has 221 saves in her career!!

Cleveland FC girls are making big contributions to their High School programs!

Jillian Graff of the U16s - named Medina Gazette Player of the Week.  Here is what the Gazette had to say about Jillian:

"Sophomore forward is fourth in Medina County in scoring with nine goals and four assists...Has played a big role in Bees posting a 9-0-2 record, being ranked third in the state and 19th in the country...Is coming off a one goal, one assist game against Dresden Tri-Valley...Has scored at least one goal in six of the last seven games...has eight goals last season."

Since this article - Jillian has added 2 more goals - making her total 11 and increasing her streak to 8 0f the last 9 games.

Katie Roberts of the U16s - named Medina Gazette Player of the Week.  Here is what the Gazette had to say about Katie:

"Midfielder has scored in all but two of the Colts' first nine games...Living up to preseason billing when coach Val Baughman called her the "best true finisher that's ever played at Cloverleaf"...Second in Medina County scoring with 15 goals and two assists."

Since this article - Katie has added 3 more goals - making her total 18.  This includes three straight games where she has scored 3 goals!


Sarah Flanders of the U17s - named Plain Dealer Player of the Week.  Sarah plays for Medina High School and had two assists in a 3-1 win over Walsh Jesuit. She also had two goals and an assist in a 4-2 win over Pickerington North.
